Citronella Shampoo is formulated with natural extracts which act as a repellent and protective insecticide. During washing, the shampoo helps remove parasites like fleas, mosquitos, bed bugs and mites from the fur. Blended with the combination of conditioning extracts and oils to effectively clean and treat your pet's skin and coat. Designed for pets that spend a lot of their time outdoors. Protects and moisturises delicate skin and washes gently without irritations. Restores the natural oil of the skin while making the hair shiny, and soft.

Concentration: Highly Concentrated. It can be diluted up to 32:1. Equivalent to 8000ml when diluted.

Application

Shake well before use. Moisten the coated surface with lukewarm water. Dilute shampoo up to 32 to 1. Massage thoroughly with the diluted shampoo and rinse. For optimum results, leave in for up to 10 minutes to allow the organic aloe vera and extra virgin olive oil to do their work. Then use any Always Your Friend Shampoo to complete the treatment. After the wash, dry well with a hairdryer.

Dilution

Citronella Shampoo is highly concentrated. Use 1 part of shampoo and 32 parts of lukewarm water. For example in a medium-size dog, use an empty bottle to add 30ml of shampoo and 960 ml of lukewarm water and then shake well for 10 seconds.

80% Organic Aloe Vera
Aloe vera contains proteolytic enzymes that repair dead skin cells on the skin. It also acts as a great conditioner and leaves the coat smooth and shiny. It promotes hair growth, prevents itching on the skin, reduces dandruff and conditions the hair. Aloe Vera is rich in minerals, vitamins, and enzymes. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, counteracts redness, helps heal wounds and calms irritated skin.

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Naturally, olive oil has many anti-ageing antioxidants and hydrating squalene, making it superb for hair and skin. Olive oil has a moisturizing effect that nourishes the skin and provides a long-lasting shield of moisture to keep the skin smooth and supple. It also helps prevent dandruff and hair loss. Also, olive oil helps strengthen individual hair strands to avoid hair splits.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that may be effective at reducing UV damage to the skin. Vitamin E may help nourish and protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Also, vitamin E can help replenish the shine that the hair loses as a result of damage.

Panthenol (Vitamin B5)
Panthenol is used as an emollient and moisturizer because of its ability to bind to the hair providing hydration. Also, panthenol strengthens the hair shaft, strengthens the skin, and counteracts eczema, itching, peeling skin, fragile coat, and hair loss. Panthenol gives natural colour and lustre, adds volume, enhances the skin and coat quality, makes brushing easier, repairs damaged/worn coats and improves hair elasticity.

Glycerin
Glycerin is plant-derived. It is an emollient and humectant; it softens and moisturizes the skin by forming an oily layer on top that draws or traps water in/on the skin. It is used to treat many oily skin conditions, like acne and skin infections. It maximizes the healthiest hair possible.

Also contains the following beneficial ingredients: Citronella oil, Eucalyptus essential oil, Neem oil, Lavender essential oil, Basil essential oil, Peppermint essential oil and Rosemary essential oil.

Tips for bath

It is very important to massage your pet with shampoo for at least 5 minutes and ideally 10+ minutes before rinsing it. Massage helps deep cleanse, helps the hair grow and stimulates blood flow. It also reduces the stress that water can cause on some pets.

Drying is the second most important part of a bath. If the pet does not dry out well, the skin can be exposed to moist bacteria that could cause infections and bad odours.

Do I need to dry the coat after bathing?
Yes, it is important to dry the pet well with a warm towel or ideally with a hairdryer. 

Can I use the shampoo as much as I want?
Because it is concentrated, we recommend that you use the recommended amount. Excessive quantities simply prolong the duration of cleaning with no added benefits.

How often should I use the shampoo?
The frequency of bathing depends on many factors, such as the living environment, skin condition, and type of hair. The rule of thumb for most dogs is bathing once a month.
- Oily haired breeds may need bathing every 1 to 2 weeks.
- Breeds such as the Golden Retriever double coat (double coat) should bathe every 4 to 6 weeks.
- Short-haired breeds should bathe every 6 to 8 weeks.
- Thick and coarse breeds like Samoyed and other Northern breeds need bathing at a lower frequency approximately every 3 to 6 months but they require almost daily brushing.

Does it dry the skin?
Some shampoos dry or irritate the dog's skin. Always Your Friend Shampoo has a moisturizing effect with Organic Oils, Organic Aloe and Panthenol to keep the skin and hair well hydrated.

Can I use the shampoo even if my dog has sensitive skin?
The shampoo is hypoallergenic and has a mild cleansing system. It can be used on pets with sensitive skin and it actually helps improve the skin’s condition. But for sensitive skin, we suggest the use of Puppy Powder shampoo or Sensitive Skin Shampoo or Nourish Shampoo or The Secret Key Shampoo. 

How effective is an Always Your Friend shampoo?
It is very effective and you can actually see improvement from the very first use. The shampoo gives shine and a silky texture to the hair. It removes dirt and cleanses naturally without irritating the skin.

Does it remove the bad odour?
The shampoo cleans thoroughly and eliminates odour.

How long does it last?
Its duration depends on the frequency of bathing and the size and hair of the pet. Due to its high concentration, it can last much longer than other commercial shampoos, making it an economical solution.

Is it effective against dandruff?
The shampoo can help reduce or eliminate dandruff.

Does it contain dye?
It does not. Instead, we use natural ingredients for natural & shiny hair.

Does it work for any breed?
Yes, you can use it on any breed with great results.

Do you recommend it for cats?
The product contains citronella oil that can be irritating to some cats. So we do not suggest the use of Citronella Shampoo on cats. 

Can I use it on me?
The product is designed for the pH of dogs and horses.
